To build your own greenhouse, prepare the following materials. Some experience handling lumber and other construction materials is required.

Required Tools and Materials

String
60 2 – inch fence staples
40 x 24 feet of UV stabilized polyethylene
4 pieces of treated 8 foot fence posts
80 feet of 2×4 x 10 treated wood
Two 20 foot lengths of 1 inch schedule 40 PVC (cut into 1 inch pieces)
Seven 20 foot lengths of 1 inch schedule 40 PVC (with 3/16-1/4 inch hole drilled center at ten ft)
Five 20 foot pieces of 5/8 inch rebar
Hammer
Drill
Nails
Paper
Pencil

Step 1

Stretch the string from the front and back of the greenhouse frame. Hammer a nail at the string’s end point marking the lengthiest side walls. Fasten another string on the left corner. Measure to the door panels and make a space for the door. Repeat this step for the back.

Step 2

Put the 2 x 4 at the string line. Take off the string. Nail a lumber block on the frame’s inside corner. Drill holes by the frame’s long walls. There has to be 4 to 6 ribs on the sides of the structure. Drill an opening and ensure the poles are aligned.

Step 3

Trace the PVC opening on the paper. Trace this on the wood. Drill this opening into the treated lumber.

Step 4

The next step to build your own greenhouse is to put the rebar at 12 inches into the ground. Put the PVC pipe above the rebar. Twist it into the wood. Repeat this step a row at a time.

Step 5

There are a couple of ways to connect the roof components. The first is to keep bending the rebar and put the cover with the PVC. The second is to connect PVC L joints and connect this to a flat roof. Use copper to fasten the frame. Make sure to thread the wire through the pipe and connect to the subsequent frame roof rod.

Step 6

Use bailing wire to fortify the base. Drill an opening 7 inches at the pipe base. Pass the wire through the other side. Thread back to the rebar and anchor with a nail on the lumber. Repeat for the other pipe rod sides.

Take your time when you build your own greenhouse. Double check the measurements so you don’t make mistakes. Protect yourself at all times when using the hammer. Don’t attempt this if you aren’t capable of handling these tools.
